Professional life

Following his participation in the 2015 Rugby World Cup, MacGinty was enlisted by Connacht for the 2015–16 Pro12 campaign. The province has been keeping an eye on MacGinty since the Pacific Nations Cup earlier this year, according to Connacht’s head coach Pat Lam. In Connacht’s 33-19 victory over Benetton Treviso on November 6, 2015, MacGinty made his domestic debut by playing the second half as a substitute.

On November 14, 2015, MacGinty made his European debut in the Challenge Cup’s opening game, starting at fly-half and scoring nine points. With 44 points in three games, MacGinty led the US team in scoring at the 2015 Pacific Nations Cup. Due to his performance in the Nations Cup, MacGinty was chosen for the American team to compete in the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He started all three of his team’s games, had three appearances, and scored 25 points.
