Massialas spent 11 years of his formative years attending the Chinese-American International School.

He then registered at Drew High School. Additionally, he joined the swimming and basketball teams there.

Massialas finished high school in 2012. Later, he joined the fencing scholarship program at Stanford University.
Only he won the NCAA men’s foil championship during his freshman year, earning him a spot on the First Team All-American. His record was 50-8.
The next year, he successfully defended his NCAA West Regional title but finished third in the NCAA finals.
In addition, he won 20 of his 23 fights before falling to Penn State David Willette in the semifinals of the NCAA title.He also defeated Air Force Alex Chiang 15-8 and finished the regionals competition with a record of 12-0.

Alexander Massialas: Career at the Olympics
At the London Olympics in 2012, Alexander Massialas competed in his first Olympics.
At that competition, he was the youngest American male athlete of any sport, at the age of 18 years, 96 days.
He failed to place on the podium at his first Olympic competition, though. He finished 13th in the individual competition and fourth in the team competition.
Later, Massialas won two medals at the Olympics in Rio. In addition, he made Olympic history in 1904 by becoming the first fencer from the USA to win two medals.
He was the best foil fencer in the world prior to Rio. But he shockingly lost 15-11 to Daniele Gorozzo, who was ranked eleventh, in the solo event final.
His silver medal performance is the USA’s first in foil fencing since the 1932 Olympic Games, nevertheless. In the team competition, he also took home a bronze medal.
His individual event journey at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 came to an end shortly. In the table of 32, Massialas lost to P. Joppich with a score of 15–12.
