Alexander was encouraged to pursue a career in gymnastics by his family. At the University of Oklahoma, he initially joined the collegiate squad for gymnastics.
He participated in a number of national-level tournaments at the beginning of his career.Similar to how Alex won the title five times, Alex did so through sheer determination and with the help of his father and mentor.Young Alex’s expertise on the pommel horse made him a national gymnastics sensation.
Alexander made a significant career jump and was selected for the US men’s national team in 2011. He took home a bronze team medal in Tokyo at his maiden world tournament.
