Nunes is the first female UFC champion of two divisions. She is also just the third UFC fighter in history to simultaneously hold titles in two different weight divisions.

On May 30, 1988, Amanda Nunes, sometimes known as Lioness, was born in a small Brazilian hamlet outside of Salvador. Together with her two older sisters, Nunes was raised by her single mother. Of the three sisters, she was the youngest.

When Nunes was four years old, other kids were playing while he began his karate lessons. She pursued boxing training when she was sixteen years old.
