Bob Costas, sometimes known as Robert Quinlan Costas, was born in Queens, New York, on March 22, 1952. He stands 5 feet 5 inches tall. Robert grew up in Commack in a Greek-American family and had a troubled relationship with his father. This sour friendship still exists today.

Bob Costas began his career as a sportscaster before completing his education. He began working for an ABC television station in 1973 while also serving as a hockey commentator for the Syracuse Blazers. When the first-choice broadcaster was absent, Bob filled in for the Missouri Tigers, Chicago Bulls, and St. Louis Blues.

Don Ohlmeyer hired the announcer at the age of 28 in 1980, when he was 28 years old. Costas came to fame at NBC during the next few years, anchoring coverage of NFL, NBA, Baseball, boxing matches, NASCAR races, golf tournaments, and a variety of other sporting events. Costas also presented NBC’s coverage of every single Olympic Games from 1988 through 2016.

Costas decided to change his eldest child’s name to Keith Michael Kirby Costas after he made a wager with Kirby Pucket that if his batting average rose above.350, he would name his child after the baseball legend.

Both of Bob’s children went on to work in the sports field and were awarded Sports Emmys as a result. Costas married Jill Sutton, his second wife, in 2004. They are currently sharing an apartment in New York.

In 2012, Bob Costas claimed that America’s gun culture contributed to an increase in domestic violence deaths. Some Republican organizations, individuals, and politicians reacted angrily to this comment, which was seen as supporting gun control legislation. Later, Bob defended his comments and campaigned for stronger gun legislation.

In 2014, conservatives criticized Bob again after he appeared to praise Vladamir Putin’s handling of Middle East affairs. However, it was eventually shown that most of his remarks were taken out of context, and that he had sincerely criticised Putin in the same breath as those remarks.

In 2017, a commentator stated that football was declining due to concussions ruining people’s brains. He further stated that as a result of this, he would not let his son to engage in the sport. Due to his comments, he was fired as Super Bowl LII host, and he was unable to attend the game. Not only that, but these comments appear to have influenced his decision to leave NBC after four decades.
