After High School
As a student-athlete at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Brandon maintained a 4.3 grade-point average.
In 2009 and 2010, he received the Gatorade National Player of the Year award.

Career in College
For the Kentucky Wildcats in 38 games as a freshman, Knight averaged 17.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists.
In addition, his leadership of the team throughout SEC play earned him selection to the SEC All-Freshman team as well as First Team All-SEC recognition from the coaches and the media.
After tallying 22 points, seven rebounds, and four assists against North Carolina in the Elite Eight, he went on to win the NCAA East Region All-Tournament Most Outstanding Player trophy.
