Early life, family, and education for Shelden Williams

The athlete, Shelden DeMar Williams, was born in Oklahoma City on October 21, 1983. Bob and Jeannette Williams, his parents, were teachers.

Shelden also has a sister by the name of Quincy.

Williams attended Midwest City High School and participated on the basketball team there. Shelden’s desire to become a professional was evident during his high school years.

Professional Career of Shelden Williams

Williams was chosen by the Atlanta Hawks with the fifth overall choice in the 2006 NBA Draft. Shelden Williams was selected the NBA Rookie of the Month for the month of April 2007. But in February 2008, the Hawks dealt Mike Bibby to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Williams.

In February 2009, the player was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, although that too was short-lived. He signed a one-year contract with the Boston Celtics six months later.

Williams re-signed a one-year deal with the Denver Nuggets in July 2010. In February 2011, he was dealt to the New York Knicks. He played with the New Jersey Nets during the 2011–2012 NBA season.

His final NBA season was that one. Shelden Williams participated in the NBA for a total of nine seasons.

After that, in 2012, he agreed to a year-long contract with the French basketball team Élan Chalon. He participated in the club’s 2012–2013 Euroleague campaign.
