Directed by Paul Brickman, the film revolves around a recently-widowed mother of two, who is forced to relocate to a different city and start afresh. Korsmo was cast as the youngest son, Matt Macauley, while the oldest son, Chris Macauley, was portrayed by Chris O’Donnell. Jessica Lange played their mother, Beth Macauley.
Korsmo was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor as well as the Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor Starring in a Motion Picture for his performance as The Kid/Dick Tracy, Jr. in the 1990 action crime film ‘Dick Tracy’. As a member of the cast of the film, Korsmo won the Young Artist Award for Outstanding Young Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture. He was also nominated for the Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Most Promising Actor and the Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor Co-starring in a Motion Picture for his individual performance.
