Early Years and Family of Chase Kalisz
The Olympian Chase Tyler Kalisz was born on March 7, 1994, in Bel Air, Maryland, in the United States. Mike, his father, is the Hereford High in Baltimore County athletic director.
His mother Cathey, on the other hand, is a government employee. Along with his three other siblings, younger brother Connor, younger sister Cassidy, and older sister Courtney, Chase grew up in a close-knit family.
The Kalisz family had a preference for swimming, which young Chase picked up on naturally. However, a tragic accident left his family wondering if he would ever be able to walk, much less swim.

He was a physically active youngster at the age of only eight. He needed to be carried to the hospital one night after waking up with pain in his legs. He was identified as having Guillian Barre syndrome, an autoimmune condition that causes paralysis of the body.
Chase was able to leave the hospital in a week thanks to prompt medical attention, but he had to be moved to a rehabilitation facility to make sure his limbs were fully functional.
He found that a specific pool therapy was extremely effective. Kid Chase was released from the hospital after just three months, while other patients typically stay there for six to eight months.
The determined child insisted on moving around without a wheelchair or walker and did so by himself.

He used swimming as therapy while recovering. Only a year later, lo and behold, he had resumed competing. The athletic heritage of his family served him well on his journey. His siblings are all excellent swimmers.
Chase, who was younger, mostly imitated his older sister. She received her training from renowned Paul Yetter at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club.
