In their sophomore years, the Martins received their first offer from Wake Fore, an ACC school 120 miles east.

They began on the local AAU team, Davie Fastbreak, before moving on to team loaded, a higher-echelon travel squad. The Martins were noticed by Oak Hill Academy, the nation’s most prestigious prep basketball school, as the noise of their excellent game spread throughout the city. Cody and his brother were invited to the Boo Williams tournament by the Oak Hill coaches. It was one of the most important AAU events of the year.
