Professional life

Daniel joined the youth group of BK Avarta in 1995 and remained with them till 2006. He later joined the youth team of Brondby, where he began his professional career. In the 2007–2008 campaign, he debuted for Brondby in the Danish Superliga. He participated in half of the games that season but had to leave due to injury later on.

He played in 36 games for Brondby in the 2008–09 season, helping the team to third place in the Superliga, its highest finish since second place in the 2005–06 campaign, with one goal and two assists and also was loaned to Fredrikstad on August 19, 2009, where he played in three games and scored once for the remainder of the 2008–09 campaign.

Daniel started more games for Brondby in the 2009–10 campaign, solidifying his spot in the starting eleven. He played in 12 games for the team that year, contributing two goals across all competitions. He made 39 appearances for Brondby in the 2010–11 campaign, contributing 4 assists and 7 goals in all competitions as the team finished third for the third consecutive season.

Daniel joined Benfica on July 1, 2011, on a five-year free transfer, and was promptly loaned to Evian Thonon Gaillard F.C., never playing in a Benfica match. On September 1, 2011,
