Early Years and Family of David Boudia
David, the nation’s diver, was born in Abilene, Texas, on April 24, 1989. Jim and Sheilagh Boudia, his proud parents, welcomed him into the world.
David shared a similar upbringing with his two sisters, Shauni and Shaila Boudia. He attended Noblesville High School, where he received his diploma in 2007.

David Boudia’s Career as a Diver
Since 2000, Boudia has been scuba diving. In 2005, the young diver made his debut appearance on the American National Diving squad.
Olympics
In 2008, Boudia took part in the Olympics for the first time. He was selected for the American swimming Olympic team that participated in Beijing in 2008.
Similar to this, he partnered with Thomas Finchum to compete for the 10m platform and synchronize the 10m platform.
In the 10-meter platform event and the synchronized 10-meter platform event with her previous synchro partner Thomas Finchum, Boudia was selected for the 2008 U.S. Olympic team.

World Championships with David Boudia

Melbourne, 2007
For the 10 m platform dive synchro at the 2007 World Aquatics Championship in Melbourne, Boudia teamed up with Thomas Finchum.

2015 Kazan
Later, Boudia won a second silver medal at the Kazan World Aquatics Championship in 2015. He earned a score of 560.20.
Gwangju in 2019
Boudia changed her distance for the World Aquatic Championship from 10 m to 3 m. He made the choice despite having received a concussion as well.
He failed to take home any gold, though, and placed fifth in the 3 m springboard competition.
Absence from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by David Boudia
After the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Boudia wasn’t sure if he wanted to compete again or retire.
In reality, he decided to skip the 2017 edition of the world championships.
But he made the decision to come back and train for his fourth Olympics in the fall of 2017. He was inspired to win more golds by the gold he had earned in London in 2012.
And He did, however, get a concussion in February 2018. He was able to crash into the sea as a result of a training mistake. He had a severe crash, blacked out, and felt lightheaded.
Boudia nevertheless held out hope. He nevertheless entered the Olympic trials.
No Qualifications?
At the American Olympic trials for Tokyo 2020, Boudia placed third. For the 3 m springboard, he won by a thin margin of 5.5 points.
Boudia also competed in the trials as the oldest diver and for the first time on the 3 m springboard.
He had been preparing for the Olympics in lockdown with his family.
Boudia claimed that despite not competing in the Olympics, he was nonetheless overcome with happiness.
His post-defeat comment, which we have quoted, was as follows:
“I couldn’t help but feel happy as I left the pool last night. It’s simple to let yourself think about what you might have done differently.
He continued,
Learning from your mistakes is important, but concentrating on them will make you unhappy, and that is not how I want to end this week’s battle. In those circumstances, you have the option of continuing to lose or making progress. I make the decision to advance in happiness and contentment!
He also expressed his congratulations to the divers who earned spots in Tokyo 2020.
David Boudia: Depression and Drugs
David Boudia, who won gold at the Olympics, struggled as a teen with drugs and suicidal thoughts.
