Raya started out as a goalkeeper with the Cornellà team in his native Spain. He joined the UE Cornellà youth team in July 2012. On February 26, 2014, he agreed to a professional contract with Blackburn Rovers.
He was elevated to Rovers’ starting goalkeeper for the 2016–17 season. Raya and Brentford agreed to a four-year contract on July 6, 2019, for an undisclosed fee. He received a direct call-up to the Spain senior team to play two friendly in March 2022 rather than being called up to the Spain junior squad.
In June 2022, Raya received her second call-up to the 2022–23 UEFA Nations League, however she did not participate in all four games.
