Since roughly ten years ago, the American skier has competed in freestyle skiing. Wise has been winning gold in the Winter X Games from the beginning of his professional career.

Early Career
The native of Nevada Town began freestyle skiing in 2011 and joined his first neighborhood freestyle ski team. He then trained under Clay Beck’s guidance and participated in slopestyle skiing, aerial skiing, big air skiing, and mogul skiing.
David later gravitated toward the halfpipe event after watching it on television in the future. He then started competing at the junior level.
Superpipe Event
David participated in the Superpipe competitions before learning about the halfpipe competition. He first entered the superpipe competition in 2012.
David competed in the superpipe event at the Winter X Games in 2012, where he earned his first gold medal. He also won a gold medal the following year (2012), and at the X Games VIII, when he won his third consecutive gold, in the superpipe event.
David earned his fourth gold medal in 2018 for the superpipe competition at the X Games. He took home a silver medal from the 2019 X Games despite losing in the championship round.

Injury
Wise had a difficult year in 2016 after dislocating his shoulder during the Mammoth Mountain World Cup.
He also sustained a concussion-related back injury that year, which prevented him from playing in numerous crucial games.
Wise fractured his femur while skiing in Austria in 2019, preventing him from finishing the season. In September 2021, he developed a serious case of singles that manifested on his face and in his left eye.
