Childhood, family, and education

On July 27, 1986, DeMarre LaEdrick Carroll was born in Birmingham, Alabama. Edward Carroll and Cynthia Carroll, his parents, were both natives of Alabama.

DeMarre attended John Carroll Catholic High School after moving to Birmingham as a child. The majority of the individuals he made there shared his passion for basketball, and he was no exception. He quickly began participating in basketball for his school’s squad.

He played on the same high school squad as Ronald Steele, a renowned veteran point guard. Carroll and his colleagues had early success when they helped their squad win Alabama 6A championships.

As a young high school student, he additionally received numerous distinctions and accolades, which increased his confidence. He was selected to the first team All-State and named MVP of the High School 6A Finals for leading his team to back-to-back state championships.

The members of his family, notably his mother, were steadfast in their support. In addition to his study time, he had access to local lads to play basketball with, which reportedly improved his talents.

In high school, his junior year saw him average 17.8 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. With his unparalleled contribution, John Carroll won the state championship with a 36-0 record.

In his senior year, he substantially improved his gameplay. This season, he scored 19.7 points and grabbed 10.7 rebounds a game. As a result, gave him a three-star rating and ranked him as the 148th best player in the nation in 2004.

Carroll enjoyed his happy early years growing up with three siblings. DeAndre, Delonte, and DeSharne Carroll are his two younger brothers and sister, respectively.

Career College Career DeMarre Carroll

DeMarre Carroll played basketball in college at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. He struggled in his first year, though. In just 34 games, he averaged 4.0 points and 3.8 rebounds.

He did, however, drastically improve in his second year. As a sophomore, he had a point and rebound average of 10.8 and 6.4 respectively.

After his second year, he received a liver ailment diagnosis, and he missed all of the games in 2006. He remarked that his allergy made it very challenging for him to play because of it.

He also made another unexpected decision after a productive second season at Vanderbilt. Carroll changed schools so that he could finish his junior and senior years at the University of Missouri.

He eventually made a comeback to the court, wearing a Missouri Tigers men’s jersey this time. The small forward played in 32 games, scoring 13.0 points and pulling down 6.7 rebounds.

Sadly, he was involved in a brawl on July 5, 2007, at a bar, and missed a lot of games that season.

DeMarre’s play in the last season was the best of his college career, as he gained greater self-assurance. In 38 games, he scored 16.6 points and grabbed 7.2 rebounds.

Furthermore, in 2009’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, his team advanced to the Elite Eight thanks to his play. His combative play during that same competition earned him the nickname “Junkyard Dog” from the audience.

NBA Years of Professional Career

DeMarre entered the NBA draft the same year he graduated from college after finishing. He was the 27th choice overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round. He played a lot of games in his first season because the organization had faith in him.

Nevertheless, his statistics were poor given that he participated in 71 matches in the 2009–10 season.

Before being moved to the Houston Rockets in the first few months of 2011, Carroll played for the Dakota Wizards in the NBA D-League the year after.

After a few months, the Rockets cut him loose without having him take part in any games for the team.

DeMarre was invited to train with another NBA team, the Denver Nuggets, after being released. But at first, they didn’t give him a contract with guarantees. He consequently temporarily joined the team for the 2011–12 campaign and participated in four regular-season games.

Until he signed with the Atlanta Hawks for the 2013–14 season, he did not have impressive stats. At the Utah Jazz, he did, however, have some control over his play. He played there this season, averaging 6.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.

Stable Seasons and Ultimately Destruction

He was signed by the Atlanta Hawks on August 3, 2013. While there, he played 27 games in his first season for the team, averaging 11.1 points and 5.5 games.

In a similar vein, he enhanced his performance in the 2014–15 season, averaging 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

On July 9, 2015, he committed to the Toronto Raptors for the upcoming 2015–16 campaign. He gained confidence during the games against the Raptors after having stable time to warm up with the Hawks.

On October 28, 2015, he made his Raptors debut against the Indiana Pacers, recording 14 points and 8 rebounds.

DeMarre  missed a lot of games after December 2015 because of a knee injury, but in the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons, he averaged 11.0 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

He spent two seasons with the Raptors before being exchanged for Justin Hamilton and sent to the Brooklyn Nets. He spent nearly two years having a good time with the Nets before starting over.

DeMarre  was played for nearly six months by San Antonio Spurs before being released. He last signed with his old team, the Rockets, and participated in few games there in 2020.
