Earvin N’Gapeth: who is he?

A French volleyball player named Earvin N’Gapeth was born on February 12, 1991. He competes for the France national team and the Italian club Pallavolo Modena, whose results and news can be found on WorldofVolley.com.

He won the 2015 European Championship, two gold medals in the World League in 2015 and 2017, the 2010 French Championship, the 2016 Italian Championship, and the 2012 Olympic Championship (2020).

Earvin N’Gapeth made his professional debut for Tours in 2008 at the young age of 17.

Earvin comes from a sporting family. Éric, his Cameroonian father, played volleyball in the 1980s for France. His father gave Earvin the name Earvin “Magic” Johnson.

In the 2008–09 season, Earvin made his professional volleyball debut after being hired by Tours VB. He only played for three seasons, but during that time he was Pro A-League champion.

He was employed by Cuneo Piemonte in the Italian Series A1 League in the 2011–12 season and played there for two seasons. Earvin and his companions also advanced to the CEV Europe League final.

Additionally, during the 2015–16 campaign, Earvin won his second Italian Supercup. Ngapeth signed a two-year contract with Zenit Kazan after spending four years there.

Career in the Profession

Earvin was kicked off the national team for the World Championship, which was held in Italy on October 7, 2010, for disciplinary reasons. Earvin rejoined the national team in 2011 for the European Championships.

He competed at the 2014 World Championships in Poland, where France finished fourth after falling to Germany in the bronze medal match.

He guided the squad to victory in the World League championship game against Slovenia with a score of 3-0.

Earvin was also recognized as the FIVB World League’s Most Valuable Player and Best Outside Spiker.


The Montpellier Criminal Court condemned Earvin to three months in prison with a three-month suspension in December 2014 for an altercation that took place at a city nightclub a few months earlier.

He was detained and hauled before the police in an open hearing after a railway ticket inspector was assaulted in the Paris-Montparnasse train station in July 2015.

He was also detained in December 2019 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on suspicion of sexual harassment after allegedly smacking a woman’s behind without her permission.
