Neville excelled at cricket as well. Along with his brother Phill Neville, he played for the Lancashire Under-14 squad. He also participated in the Bolton Cricket League for the Greenmount Cricket Club. It’s interesting to note that he scored 110 runs for Greenmount in an unbroken partnership of 236 runs with Matthew Hayden, a future Australian superstar.

In 1995, Gary Neville represented England in his first international match. He was chosen by Terry Venables to play against Japan. Eventually, he was chosen by five different coaches to play right back for England. After a brief absence from the international stage, Neville was called back into the English lineup in 2009 for the World Cup qualifying matches.

Neville played for Manchester United throughout his youth and adult career. He is a one-club man and used to play right back. In 2005, Neville was named Man United’s captain. Neville eventually decided to end his soccer career in 2011.
