Harjinder Kaur, a well-known weightlifter from India, was born on October 14, 1996, making her 25 years old. On August 2, 2022, she made history and shot to fame in the world of sports. At the Common Wealth Games in 2022, she earned the bronze medal. During the Commonwealth Games, she outperformed many strong female weightlifters and won a bronze medal for her nation.

Harjinder Kaur: who is she?

During the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Indian weightlifter Harjinder Kaur continued to be successful in her endeavors. She failed to lift 90 kg in her initial attempt and also lifted 90 kg on her second attempt in the clean and jerk round and 119 kg on her third. After attempting three lifts totaling 212 kg, she was awarded the bronze medal.

Since she received a medal, the chief minister of Punjab has praised her accomplishment. The reward money for Harjinder Kaur has been announced as 40 lakh rupees by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, a member of the Rajya Sabha, has set a reward of 5 lakh rupees for Harjinder. Additionally, MP Vikramjit Singh has pledged to get Harjinder a position at NGO Sun Foundation, which manages top-notch skill institutes and drug rehab facilities in Punjab.

Biography

Harjinder Kaur was born in Mehas village in Nabha, Patiala, Punjab, according to her Wikipedia biography. She finished her education in Punjab while she was residing in the village of Mehas and also attended the nearby Nabha’s Government School as a student.

She then continued her education at SGTB Khalsa College in Anandpur Sahib. Harjinder is currently 25 years old. It first took some persuasion on the part of Harjinder’s coach, Mr. Paramjeet Sharma, to get her to start weightlifting. In 2016, she enrolled in a Kabaddi camp at Punjab University. Parmjeet Sharma, the weightlifting coach at Punjabi University, took notice of her strength. She was asked to choose weightlifting. Harjinder then began her training after some time had passed.

Harjinder has acknowledged in interviews that she used a fodder machine at home to develop her muscle power. She used to feed her buffaloes by using a manual fodder machine called a “Toka” to cut straw.

In Mehas Village, Harjinder Kaur’s family resides in a one-room home. She is a member of a Punjabi farmer family without land. Sahib Singh is her father, while Kuldeep Kaur is her mother. She also has a brother, Pritpal Singh, who is older. Her brother is an office clerk for the government. Harjinder’s career was hampered by her family’s dire financial circumstances. In order for Harjinder to pursue her weightlifting career, her family borrowed Rs 1 lakh.

Pritapal Singh, her brother, spoke to the media after she won a bronze medal in the CWG. Speaker: Pritapal Singh She is a hard worker who put forth a lot of effort to earn her CWG medal. She used to operate the chaff-cutting machine to cut feed, which helped her build arm strength. She never declined because she used to look after the buffaloes by herself.

“At first, we had issues. As soon as she started receiving medals and I was hired by the government, things began to get better.

Her father, who is now 60 years old, expressed his pride in her daughter and asked the government to help find her a job.

Professional Life

Harjinder Kaur first participated in tug-of-war contests before starting to follow her mentor Paramjeet Sharma’s lead. A rope being tugged in the strength-based game tug of war. In 2016, she took part in her first weightlifting contest. During the 2017 Women Inter-State National Weightlifting Championship in Kolkata, she won her maiden gold medal.
