Similarly, in the 1970s and 1980s, he spent playing numerous characters in television series. In television, his first role was that of a history teacher, Harvey Weskit. It was for the show Mister Peepers from 1952 to 1955. Later, in 1959, he appeared in an NBC special The Secret of Freedom. He was featured in an episode of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour in 1961. Therefore, he portrayed the character of an alcoholic who kills his wife in a drunken state.
Finally, he found fame in his portrayal of Felix Unger opposite Jack Klugman. It was a hit TV series The Odd Couple released in 1970. Later, an album called The Odd Couple Sings for London Records was recorded by 2 actors. Similarly, from 1976 to 1978,  a show titled The Tony Randall Show was aired on television. Therefore, he played the role of a Philadelphia judge.

Harlan’s Marriage Ends with Her Husband, Randall’s Death

Heather Harlan recalls some happy times with her late husband, Randall. Their marriage ended after 9 years when Randall passed away from pneumonia at NYU Medical Center on May 17, 2004. He had coronary bypass heart surgery in December 2003, which resulted in pneumonia, it was discovered.

Before his death, Randall was survived by his second wife, Heather, and their two children. Later, his remains was buried at the Westchester Hills Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, after the Randall family performed a memorial service for him.

Following the death of Randall, Heather talked about her late husband in an interview in 2008, saying;

“It’s horrible for a child to lose a parent at an early age, but our life is not a tragedy because Tony died. He was a loving husband. And since he couldn’t have kids with his first wife, he desperately wanted them – so he was an incredibly loving father. And a great provider – his children have everything they will ever need. His presence is very, very strong in our lives.”

Harlan, further, stated about the fingers raised upon her marriage with Randall;

“I could say a million things about the hypocrisy of the people who comment on my marriage. The first thing I’d say is, “You weren’t there!”. The second thing is, to all the women who have been used, abused, dicked over, dumped, cheated on, and stolen from: “Who wouldn’t want a successful, smart, wonderful man who worshipped the ground you walked on?”.

A question about her sexual relationship with her late husband was asked during the interview. So she declared, “This is difficult for people to understand, but sex was not a problem.” They had frequent sex until he [Randal] was hospitalized. It was just a natural part of their wonderful marriage, and they took care of each other till the end.”

Tony Randall, Heather Harlan’s adored husband, was married to Florence Gibbs for for five and a half decades. The former couple had been in a relationship since high school.
