In January 2017, he blamed Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, John Podesta, for Russian hackers stealing Podesta’s emails. He said, “What happened is that John Podesta gave his password to a hacker. And try to guess his password. ‘Password.’ It really happened. His password was ‘password'”. Watter’s claim was rated “False” by the website PolitiFact, which checks facts.
Media Matters says that he has even said this about climate change: “You can fight climate change with suntan lotion. It doesn’t matter that much.” President Trump has said that his policy of separating children from their families is “more humane” than keeping them with their families.

Amanda Terkel “ambush”
In 2009, he and his cameraman approached journalist Amanda Terkel while they were on the job for The O’Reilly Factor. They came up to her while she was on vacation and asked her about an article she had written that was critical of Bill O’Reilly.
At a party for journalists seven years later, Ryan Grim of The Huffington Post walked up to him with his phone camera running and asked him to walk over to Studs Terkel and say sorry. Watters first said he would apologize, but then he said he wouldn’t. He also said, “I ambushed her because O’Reilly told me to get her because she said some bad s***.”
On top of that, the video of what happened shows him taking Grim’s phone, throwing it on the ground, and then taking it back and putting it in his pocket. Then, when Grim tried to get his phone back, the two of them got into a fight. He talked about what happened later on The O’Reilly Factor. And He said, “I was at this party trying to have fun. He walked up to me. He starts telling me about it.”

He asked Chinese Americans in New York City’s Chinatown if they knew karate, if he should bow before greeting them, or if their watches had been stolen.
