Jody Vance is a famous Canadian news broadcaster and writer with a journalism career spanning more than three decades. She is a proud journalist who is also the first woman to host a solo all-sports show in primetime on Canadian TV.

Early Life, Family, and Education | Jody Vance

Jody Vance was born on August 23, 1967, in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Despite withholding details of her early years, the 54-year-old journalist has been candid about her family on social media.

In a tweet sent on January 15, 2014, Vance wished her two fathers, Bill and Bruce, a happy father’s day.

However, Jody hasn’t given any details about her father. She didn’t even mention her stepfather or birth father.

Her grandma worked as a hostess at the University of British Columbia (UBC) cafeteria before becoming a doctor in Copenhagen, she disclosed in her reply tweet on September 1 of this year.

She added that her grandfather’s skills as a technician led to his promotion to partner at Tremblay Motors.

Jody also mentioned in the same tweet that her father taught physical education (PE) for more than thirty years.

She also mentioned that her mother was single in the 1970s and worked as a lab technician.

Later, on March 26, 2019, Vance replied to a tweet by stating that her stepmother is a retired teacher.

Jody has always identified her stepdad and stepmom on social media, so it’s reasonable to assume that her parents separated in the 1970s. Following their divorce, both then got married.

Vance’s educational history was difficult to find, but we think that she is a knowledgeable citizen.

According to some sources, she attended South Delta Secondary School to study.

Additionally, we are unable to locate her high school and college information.

She is, as we all know, the first female host of a prime time sports program in Canadian television history. At the time, this was a significant accomplishment for a woman in Canada.

Jody began her broadcasting career on CHRX before 1995, and soon after, she transferred to CFMI-FM/CKNW where she worked as the assistant promotion director and fill-in talent on the air.

But in 1995, BCTV phoned, and she was able to realize her lifelong ambition of becoming a sports anchor.

After a brief stint with BCTV, Vance helped launch the sports department at Vancouver Television.

As the single employee of the sports department, she developed her skills and became knowledgeable about sports television there.

She became the first woman to host the network desk in 1999 while filling in as an anchor for Sportsnet, a new Canadian sports network.

She departed Sportsnet in 2005, and at the time, she was the chief anchor for Leafs TV.

After leaving Sportsnet in 2005, Vance served as the chief anchor of Leafs TV, the hockey channel owned by the Toronto Maple Leafs, from 2006 until 2009.

On April 11, 2009, the Leafs hosted the Ottawa Senators, and it was her last pre-game.

In June 2009, Vance started working at Shore 104 FM in Vancouver, where she aired an afternoon show called “The Jody Vance Show.”

Similar to this, she joined CBC Vancouver to work in sports in addition to her position at Shore 104.3 FM and hosted the Vancouver Canucks playoff post-game show, “Finding Stanley.”
