At Qualifying School in 2010, he earned a spot on the PGA Tour. He was one of just two African-American golfers competing on the PGA Tour in 2011, the other being Tiger Woods. He became the first black golfer since 1985 to complete the PGA Tour’s qualifying school.
Likewise, he lost his Tour card in 2011, missed 12 of 25 cuts, finished 196th on the money list, and eventually joined the Web.com Tour. He finished in 28th place in 2012. He finished the 252-hole PGA Qualifying School gantlet on December 6, 2010, winning each of the three stages by two strokes to secure his tour card.
In the PGA Tour qualifying golf event in Orlando, Florida, he got his bearings with a birdie on the fourth hole before righting the ship with five straight birdies from holes 8 to 12. Additionally, he fired a 4-under 68 in the final round to move up the leaderboard by 17 spots and hold onto his card by two shots with an 11-under total.
He had won the championship with the Stanford men’s team three years prior. He is the youngest player to qualify for the US Amateur at the age of 14.
