In the National Basketball Association, Josh Selby is a successful professional basketball player (NBA). He does have a scoring mentality even if he plays the point guard in games, even though occasionally he makes poor choices.

Prior to this, he played for the Kansas Jayhawks, his college team.

Later, he played for groups like the Qingdao Eagles, the Maine Red Claws, the Canton Charge, the Memphis Grizzlies, etc.

Childhood, Family, and Education

On March 27, 1991, Joshua Cornell Selby was born in the ram sign of Aries. He was born to Maeshon Witherspoon, a single mom, in Baltimore, Maryland, where he was raised.

Josh Selby frequently refers to his formative years as “difficult times” despite the fact that not much is known about them. Growing up in West Baltimore’s gunfire-filled area was difficult for him.

When Witherspoon was just five years old, his grandma left him in her home while she went to work for McDonald’s.

When there were gunshots nearby during those times, he would contact his mother out of fear, and Witherspoon would abandon all she was doing at work to rush over to help.

Additionally, it became more challenging to mature into a middle schooler. When Witherspoon switched employment at the time, her new position wasn’t yet established, thus she fell behind on her rent payments.

She was left with no choice except to move in with her buddies. Josh slept in a bed with two other lads while she did so with a buddy.

While Witherspoon was giving her explanation, Josh was also displaying characteristics of “street lads.” He frequently discussed violating curfews and skipping school in plain language.

Change in surrounding

After that, Witherspoon made the decision to move in with her mother, who was delighted to have them. She then moved Josh’s middle school and even the area, which slowly brought about a change for the better in Josh.

It did not, however, end the horrific events in the bay. When Josh observed one of his friends’ mouths being lashed with a pistol back then, he experienced some of the darkest moments of his life.

Josh Selby also saw his cousin Shelton Turner being shot inside the automobile, which eventually passed him from brain swelling.

Josh was primarily enrolled in The John Carroll School in Bel Air, Maryland, and DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, for academic studies.

As a result, he later spent his final year at Lake Clifton High School in Baltimore. He ultimately made his decision to attend the University of Kansas.

Introduction to Basketball

Josh’s mother, Witherspoon, really played basketball for Overlea High School in Baltimore in the past. Josh even received a basketball scholarship offer from Coppin State after graduating from high school.

She would so impart her renowned gift to her kid at a young age. She came to the conclusion that Josh’s left hand was weak later, when he was seven.

Josh always brought him to the gym where she forced him to dribble and bounce the ball solely with his left hand. Of course, Josh would frequently sob and beg him to stop. But eventually she would tell him to finish it.

During his senior year of high school, Josh averaged 32 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and two steals per game.

Recruitment to the College Team

Josh had initially made the decision to enroll at the University of Tennessee after graduating from high school. Later in 2009, he reconsidered his choice.

Josh arrived at the college as the overall top prospect according to the recruiting website Rivals.com.

He was the winner of the pre-game dunk contest while he was a player for Kansas under coach Bill Self.

His college career was generally marred by contentious issues, and he was even benched for nine games. He also missed a lot of games due to injury during the course of the season.
