Anthony Kevin Dungy, aka Tony Dungy, was born on October 6, 1955, and is a former American football safety and coach.
Tony worked as a lead trainer in the National Football League for 13 years, including stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Indianapolis Colts.
He led the Colts to victory in Super Bowl XLI, making him the first black head coach to do so.
Dungy began teaching at the University of Minnesota in 1980 before returning to the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1981. He rose to become the group’s defensive leader.
From 1989 to 1991, he was the defensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, and from 1992 to 1995, he was the defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings.
