Herm, Lia’s spouse, is a former cornerback who now coaches American football. He has previously played cornerback. Before being dismissed by head coach Buddy Ryan in 1986, Herm played in Super Bowl XV and spent nine NFL seasons (1977–1985) with the Philadelphia Eagles.
After that, he made a brief appearance with the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Rams in 1986 before announcing his retirement the next year. From 1987 through 1989, he also served as a defensive assistant for the San Jose State football team. Herm oversaw the defensive backs for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1990 through 1995. Herm used to work for a variety of football teams, including the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs, among others. He is now Arizona State’s head football coach.
