The College Career of Luke Kornet

In Argyle, Texas, Kornet attended Liberty Christian School. The Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools includes it (TAPPS).

During his four years, Kornet played 128 games for the university team Vanderbilt Commodores, averaging 8.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.64 blocks in 24.1 minutes.

He made 35 starts during his senior year and averaged 13.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks, earning him All-SEC and All-SEC Defensive recognition.

Knicks of New York

Kornet joined the New York Knicks for the 2017 NBA Summer League after going undrafted in the 2017 NBA draft.

On July 3, 2017, Kornet and the Knicks agreed to a two-way contract under which he would be paid according to the league in which he was playing.

Luke said of his first game, “I’m just hoping to come out and make the most of it, produce some offense and be strong on defense.”

Kornet’s parents traveled to Toronto to watch their son play in his first NBA game against the Toronto Raptors.

He produced a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds in the game’s final 22 minutes, making himself and his parents delighted.

Luke became the second rookie in Knicks history to make his debut with a double-double and the first player in NBA history to score three points and record four blocks in his debut.

After several highs and lows, the Knicks and Kornet ultimately agreed on a standard deal on July 6, 2018.

On April 9, 2019, in a 96-86 victory over his future team, the Chicago Bulls, he recorded a double-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds, and a career-high six blocks to round off the 2018–19 season.
