Mack Horton competed in the Olympics for the first time in 2016. He did, however, represent Australia in the Summer Olympics, where he won gold in the 400 m freestyle and finished fourth in the 4 200 m freestyle relay.

Horton then won silver in the 400 m freestyle event at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. Mack recently finished third in the 400-meter freestyle at the Australian Olympic Trials.

Injuries

Accident in a Car

Injuries are without a doubt the most unwelcome guests of athletes. Although they arrive uninvited, some open doors to greater opportunities, while others open doors to grave dangers.

Mack Horton flipped his Land Rover in a single-vehicle accident in 2016. He was four-wheeling with his friends on the weekend when he hit an embankment and flipped the vehicle he was riding.

Mack was trapped in the driver’s seat when the vehicle flipped, but he was rescued by his other two friends. It’s also good news that his vehicle was stopped by a log, which allowed him to sustain only minor injuries.

Stung by a bee

Mack Horton was stung by a bee on his right arm while training for the Commonwealth Games. Mack’s entire right hand was swollen from the bee sting, making swimming difficult.

As a result, Mack had to compete while wearing thick prescription goggles.

What’s the connection between Mack Horton and Sun Yang?

As we all know, China’s Sun Yang has been banned for doping. In 2014, he received a three-month doping suspension for using the stimulant trimetazidine.

Sun Yang was previously banned for eight years in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code obligations.

However, the panel later reduced his ineligibility period to four years and three months, beginning February 28, 2020.

With that in mind, Mack Horton refused to share the podium with Sun following the 400m final at the World Championships.
