Career in the Profession
In August 2012, James committed to play for Croatian club Zagreb during the 2012–13 campaign.
He agreed to a one-season deal in February 2013 with Israel’s second-tier club, Hapoel Galil Elyon.
James joined the DNA Silver Basket league team Paffoni Omegna in Italy before transferring to Kolossos Rodou in Greece in August 2014.In July 2015, James agreed to play for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Summer League.
In the same month, he renewed his contract with Baskonia for another season. Later, he learned about Panathinaikos in Greece for the 2016–17 campaign.
He helped Panathinaikos win the Greek Cup and the Greek Basket League in the 2016–17 campaign.

James was contacted by the Phoenix Suns in the summer of 2017, and he joined them for the NBA Summer League before signing the first two-way contract in NBA history.
James’ two-way deal allowed him to play for both Phoenix and their G League affiliate, the Northern Arizona Suns, but he never joined the G League team.
2018 saw James renew his two-way deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. James was signed to a two-way deal with New Orleans, but unlike Phoenix, he was never sent to the NBA G League.
On April 23, 2021, James signed a 10-day deal with the Brooklyn Nets. On May 13, James agreed to a contract for the balance of the 2020–21 campaign.
