Bruins of Boston
After finishing his college hockey career in 1974, Milbury participated in five games with the Boston Bruins, the top farm team for the Boston Braves.
Later, on November 5, 1974, he signed a free-agent contract with the Boston Bruins. His following two seasons were spent playing for the Rochester Americans, a new American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Boston Bruins.
Similarly, in these two seasons (1975 and 1976), he led the team in penalty minutes with 246 and 199, respectively, and placed fourth and third, respectively, in the AHL.
