On November 14th, 1977, Obie Trice was born in Detroit, Michigan. On the west side of Detroit, his mother raises him. He has three further brothers and is of African American descent. Thanks to the karaoke machine his mother gave him for his eleventh birthday, he discovered how to rhyme to instrumental music.
When he was fourteen years old, he and his friends participated in a rap fight. Trice started to take his rap seriously at that moment after receiving encouraging feedback from the judges throughout these matches. In addition, he met Eminem with the help of D12 member Bizarre.
