Juolevi was highly regarded by scouts after contributing significantly to London’s title campaign. NHL Central Scouting ranked him sixth among North American players who were draft eligible and praised his scoring performance.

Additionally, the Vancouver Canucks selected him as the first defenseman overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Similar to this, Juolevi agreed to a three-year entry-level contract with the Canucks on August 5, 2016, marking his first professional contract.

After finishing his debut AHL season with 13 points in 18 games, Juolevi underwent knee surgery and was forced to miss the rest of the season.

Juolevi’s 2018–19 season was cut short by injury, therefore he was sent back to Utica to begin the 2019–20 campaign. Juolevi had an injury once more in November of 2019 after scoring 5 points in 14 games, but he quickly recovered and played again.

Olli Juolevi missed a season after having knee surgery.

Olli Juolevi continues to defy expectations, but not in a good manner. The No. 5 overall choice of the Vancouver Canucks in the 2016 first round was unable to secure a spot on the team’s roster last year and was sent back to his home Finland.

Juolevi has spent the majority of this season playing for their AHL club, the Utica Comets.

The teenage defender’s leg was hurt, but he was only sidelined for a few weeks. Juolevi started working again with the Comets last week.

However, the Canucks announced this evening that Juolevi had knee surgery today and will be out for the remainder of the campaign.

The truth of the situation is that the top choice currently in the draft will have to wait another season before making his NHL debut. If Juolevi’s knee injury turned out to be more serious than first thought or if the team decided to play it safe, he might have to wait even longer.

Vancouver is hoping that he will be fully recovered by training camp, but there is no assurance that he will. He will likely need to begin another season in the minors to demonstrate that he is game-ready.

Recovery

According to the Canucks’ medical staff, surgery “was the best decision for the long-term health and career of Juolevi,” according to the team press release.

Although there was no answer, it was still necessary to decide whether the team thought they would need him early in the following season or this one.

There is no longer any question as to whether University of Michigan defenseman Quinn Hughes has surpassed Juolevi as Vancouver’s best defensive prospect.

Hughes, who was selected by the Canucks with the seventh overall pick in June, is anticipated to start at some point in the upcoming season.

Juolevi’s future is also in doubt given that its development has recently been hampered by injuries and unimpressive results.

The Problem With Video Games

Despite certain false allegations made online, Canucks prospect Olli Juolevi is not the unknown player who will forgo an NHL future due to a video game addiction.

Dhiren Mahiban, a sports writer who has contributed to the Canadian Press, the New York Times, and other publications, claimed that Olli Juolevi was the subject of a question.

In addition, contrary to some extremely false allegations out there, Canucks prospect Olli Juolevi is not the nameless prospect who will forgo an NHL career due to a video-game addiction.

Additionally, he claimed that the guy wouldn’t make the NHL because of his addiction.
