Davidson’s biggest career break came in 2014 when he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live, which was beginning its 40th season, thanks to Hader’s advice. He joined the cast at age 20, making him one of the younger actors.

Although he occasionally overdid his humor, Davidson became known for sharing his opinions during the show’s weekly “Weekend Update” segment. Davidson has been open about his medical and psychological problems. Also he has been using marijuana to treat his Crohn’s disease symptoms since receiving his diagnosis in his late teens.

He took a hiatus from SNL in 2016 to pursue sobriety because he thought his excessive use of marijuana and alcohol was the cause of his frequent mental breakdowns.  however, he  notice that his negativity deteriorated after he left.
