When Rick Lax was five years old, he developed a fascination in magic, which was sparked by David Copperfield. He was really interested in magic, rehearsed, performed, and only occasionally took a break for a piano lesson. He also played music and performed magic throughout elementary school. Additionally, Rick was able to write and direct the musical “Coffee Break” and serve as the marching band drum major at Andover High. He also memorized and performed the opening section of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

Rick Lax happily held the position of Vice Chairman of the MSU Freshman Class Council while performing with the State Singers in his high school years. At the same time, he earned certification in the program’s linked honors organization and was able to major in political science. Even the band Tally Hall used him to play cowbell. Rick was also able to join MENSA after graduating in order to write an exposé of the so-called High IQ Society.

Rick Lax relocated to Chicago when he was 22 years old to enroll in the DePaul University College of Law. He was able to finish his internship at the State’s Attorney’s Office in Cook County, graduate, and pass the bar.
