In 2006, he began participating in youth football with Rayo Majadahonda. Rodri left CF Rayo Majadahonda in 2007 and enrolled in Atlético Madrid’s youth program. Despite being released in 2013 for “lack of physical strength,” he later joined with Villarreal CF. On February 7, 2015, Rodri made his young professional debut with the reserves, entering as a late substitution in a 3-1 victory over RCD Espanyol B on the road. 15 days later, he made his debut, defeating Real Zaragoza B 2-0.
