Ron Baker: Career in High School

Ron developed into a standout at Scott Community High and hoped to play for the best college team in the state at Kansas, but he took his time to fit into his body.

By the end of his junior year, he was barely 6 feet (1.83 m) tall and had only attracted interest from Arkansas-Little Rock and South Dakota State, two Division I schools.

He grew to 6 feet 3 inches over the summer between his junior and senior seasons (1.91 m).

Ron helped the team achieve a 25-1 record during his final year. He received a spot on the Kansas 3A First-Squad All-State team in return.

His high school basketball career reached its apex when he beat Minneapolis High School with a game-winning put-back buzzer-beater to win the Class 3A state championship, finishing with 26 points and 9 rebounds.

Consequently, despite the fact that the school had previously made two visits, Ron assisted the team in winning its first-ever Class 3A championship.

Ron was urged by Kansas to visit the school after his senior year. Ron thought about staying, but the offer arrived in the middle of his senior baseball campaign.

The basketball skills of Ron’s son, according to his father, were rusty, and he “didn’t want to embarrass himself” in a potential scrimmage. You may also like to know about  Noel J. Mickelson
