He seemed to want to give baseball his complete attention and give up football for good. Eric Cavaliere, his then-coach, persuaded him to play football through his senior year.

Later, Dwelley, who had been the quarterback in the junior years, made his debut as the tight end in the senior year. He had a 43 reception total for 568 receiving yards and five touchdowns for his high school record.

He also won the MVP honor for the offensive team, which helped his team win the Section Championship in his senior year.


Ross Dwelley decided to enroll at the University of San Diego after graduation. He was first introduced at that time as a redshirt freshman, starting 12 games and recording 23 receptions for 219 yards.

Dwelley recorded 54 receptions for 580 yards and 3 touchdowns during his sophomore season. Later, he was recognized as USD’s Most Improved Offensive Player and selected to the 2015 All-PFL Second Team.
