She became well-known for her part in the sequel to the comic book superhero of the same name, Deadpool, from the Marvel adventure series.

Her debut film was “Shugo Tenshi” (Guardian Angel) in 2009, and her debut TV series was “Homeroom on the Beachside” (2008), a teen drama in which she portrayed Fujisawa Risa. Shioli Kutsuna made her film debut in 2009. In the movie Guardian Angel, she portrayed Ryoko. Most of the appearances in the movie are inspired by comic books.

She played the part of Haru/Harumi in “125 Years Memory” in 2015.

She made guest appearances in the manga-based television series Mei-chan no Shitsuji, 70000 People Detective Nitobe, The Witch Trial, and Shokojo Seira in 2009.

She won an important award for her performance as Mako Kurata in the 2011 movie My Back Pages. Thus she portrayed Kanai Akiko in the movie three nen B Gumi Kinpachi Sensei: Final that same year.Hence,  she then continued to appear in movies including The Legend of the Strange Bird and its sequels, Shinichi Kudo’s Written Challenge, Petal Dance, Unforgiven, 125 Years Memory, Kiseki, Oh Lucy!, and lastly The Outsider, in which she made her Hollywood debut in 2018.

The next year, Shiori Kutsuna portrayed Yukio in Deadpool 2. Then, in 2019, she made a cameo appearance as a supporting character in the American comedy-drama mystery movie Murder Mystery. She portrays Mami Sato in the 2020 movie Graduation Song. The next year, Shiori Kutsuna returned to the Jidankoshonin Gota Keshi as Ayano Sakura. In the historical drama series Go, she also played Lady Sen.
