On October 23, 2012, Stacey, a reporter for WJW-TV, was told she had stage 1 breast cancer. She found a lump in her bust a few months before. Then, on October 24, 2012, she had a mastectomy at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center.

After having surgery for breast cancer, Stacey took a few months off from work to heal. In 2014, a tattoo artist named Vinnie Meyers gave her a nipple. She is now known as a breast cancer survivor for both men and women to get screened for breast cancer.
