Patricia Lynn “Trisha” Yearwood, the daughter of banker Jack Howard Yearwood and teacher Gwendolyn Yearwood, was born on September 19, 1964, in Monticello, Georgia.

When Trisha was in primary school, she began to sing. She participated in talent shows, musical productions, and choir ensembles. She developed an interest in accounting as a teenager, but after graduating she joined the U.S. Air Force and spent four years at Luke AFB.

Later, in order to advance her singing profession, she enrolled in Young Harris College. She earned an associate’s degree before joining the honor organization “Phi Theta Kappa.” And then she  enrolled in the University of Georgia, but she quickly withdrew out due to dissatisfaction with the school’s expansive campus.

She was given an internship with “MTM Records” and then started working there full-time. In 1989, she produced numerous demo tapes and provided backup vocals for a number of emerging performers, including Garth Brooks. She and him eventually became a close friendship. He introduced her to Garth Fundis, with whom she later began working.


Trisha Yearwood released her self-titled debut album in 1991, and it went on to sell over a million copies.
