Greg, his older brother, was a sports enthusiast who encouraged his younger brothers to follow suit.

Due to a brain tumor, Greg was unable to pursue a career in music like his other two brothers, despite being rather well-liked in high school.

Ben, Tyler’s younger brother, also went on to play in the NBA. Prior to getting into the real estate business, he was a Western Kentucky University assistant coach.

Tyler and his brothers set up a practice court in their backyard, where they would spend hours honing their dunks and shooting techniques.

Tyler Hansbrough | High School for Career Career

Tyler started his education at Poplar Bluff High School in Missouri, where he also participated in high school basketball for the same squad.

His height made it easy for him to get to the hoop, therefore he primarily played as a power forward.

Additionally, he enjoyed playing at the center position.

He immediately displayed his high level of ambition and excelled at playing. He consequently had a very high shooting % and was also proficient at grabbing rebounds.

Hansbrough successfully completed his senior year and received numerous accolades. In the previous season, he scored 28.0 points and grabbed 7.3 rebounds a game.

Speaking of his accomplishments, he received numerous awards, including McDonald’s All-American and Gatorade Best Basketball Player of The Year (Missouri).

He also performed admirably at the 2005 Nike Hoop Summit.

Career in College

Tyler Hansbrough made the decision to continue his academic career by enrolling at the University of North Carolina at Tar Heels.

His decision to sign with North Carolina turned out to be a game-changing one for him because he went on to become one of their legendary players.

He played fiercely from the start, which helped him win multiple awards. He participated in 31 games that season, averaging 18.9 points per game, the best mark among freshman.

Additionally, he maintained the record by becoming the only freshman in ACC history to be named to the First Team All-America.

But this was just the start of his jaw-dropping performances.

Over the course of the following three collegiate seasons, he dazzled everyone with his tenacious performance. He also had excellent statistics in his second season and averaged over 20.0 points per game in both his junior and senior campaigns.

Also, he quickly became well-known throughout the nation and was regarded as one of the most important up-and-coming basketball talents. He won practically all of the national honors available to collegiate athletes.

After receiving his diploma, he declared for the 2009 NBA draft, where he was projected to be one of the top picks after looking at his total collegiate performance.

Career in the Profession

He was one of the top college grads that year, and there was fierce competition among NBA teams to sign him.

He was eventually selected by the Indiana Pacers as the 13th overall choice in the first round of the 2009 draft.

The team had high hopes for its new recruit, but the legendary Tar Heels player tragically suffered an injury even before the season began.

He as a result missed a lot of preseason and regular season NBA games.

And He performed admirably for the Pacers in his second season of play. He offered the team a cause to keep him by averaging a career-high 11.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game during that particular season.

He failed to satisfy the team’s administration, though, and was thus discharged in 2013. Then, to resume his NBA career, he joined with the Toronto Raptors.

However, his performance never improved again, and at the end of the 2015–16 NBA season, no NBA team wanted him.

He only played for the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA after his time with the Raptors.

He also gave the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League a shot. The Chinese Basketball Association League was his next stop, and there he played for about three seasons.

Unfortunately, the college basketball star had a limited professional success and had to leave the NBA earlier than anticipated.

Even though he hasn’t officially announced his retirement, he hasn’t played in any basketball games since his CBA participation.
