Early Life of Walt Lemon, Jr.

Walt Lemon Sr. and Katrina Lemon are Lemon’s parents. Since he was born on July 26, 1992, he has the astrological sign of Leo. With his four siblings, Shabria, Shaniece, Darrius, and Dennis, he grew up in Chicago, Illinois.

Lemon went to Chicago’s Percy L. Julian High School. He enrolled and participated in his high school basketball team, scoring an average of 19 points per game while dishing out six assists and pulling down five rebounds. Due to his talent, the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association named him to the third team of the 3A all-state and the second team of the All-Chicago Public League.

When Lemon was a high school sophomore, he lost his father to cancer. In honor of Lemon’s mother, a high school volleyball player, who also wore the number 25, he wears the number 25 on his jersey. It seems that the family has a strong athletic heritage.

His love of basketball inspired him to enroll at Bradley University and major in Psychology. His overall grade point average at graduation was 3.29. He participated in college basketball for the Bradley Braves men’s team.

Körmend (2014)

In the 2014 NBA draft, Lemon went undrafted. This eventually translates into players being able to sign with any team as unrestricted free agents. and so participated in the 2015 NBA Summer League with the Golden State Warriors.

On September 10, 2014, Walt Lemon Jr. started playing basketball professionally for the Hungarian team EGIS Körmend. Körmend finished in ninth position prior to signing Lemon, thus missing out on playoff eligibility. So, in order to boost the team’s performance, some adjustments were made starting in 2014–15.

Wayne Forth Mad Ants (2017-18)

After playing abroad, Lemon came home and re-signed with Mad Ants for the 2017–18 season. He had outperformed every player. He led the G League in scoring with an average of 22.4 points. This ultimately led to his first NBA appearance with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Pelicans of New Orleans (2018)

The New Orleans Pelicans revealed in February 2018 that Lemon has signed a 10-day deal with the franchise. Thus, Lemon made his NBA debut with the New Orleans Pelicans on February 23, 2018. Lemon agreed to a second 10-day deal with the organization in March 2018.

New England Patriots & Boston Celtics (2018)

Lemon and the Boston Celtics agreed to a two-way contract in 2018. Maine Red Claws are owned by Boston Celtics. He agreed to split his time between the Boston Celtics and the Maine Red Claws. Without playing for the Maine Red Claws, Lemon was later dismissed by the Celtics on November 29.

In addition, even today it remains unclear why Lemon was released by the Boston Celtics.

Bulls of Windy City (2018-19)

Lemon was acquired by Windy City Bulls in 2018. He played for both the Windy City Bulls and the Maine Red Claws. He averaged 20.9 points while he was in between these two.
